Mercury is the innermost planet in the solar system. It is the 2nd densest major body in the solar system after planet earth. Mercury travels around the sun in an elliptical orbit. It takes 88 days to revolve around the sun. It is about 28,580,000 miles from the sun at its closet point, and 43,380,000 miles from its farthest point.
